#Rod Loadouts
Every rod is a fully buildable loadout: pick a reel, line, hook size, bait and sinker weight, and the entire setup saves to the rod's item metadata. Pick the rod up tomorrow and your loadout is exactly where you left it.

The loadout UI β every component slot lives on the rod itself.
The defaults ship:
- 13 rods β entry-level dock rods up to legendary deep-ocean rods
- 14 reels
- 14 lines
- 24 hook sizes
- 12 sinker weights
- 20+ baits
Every item is editable live in the Live Script Configurator β no Lua edits, no resource restart.
#XP & Levels
dirk_fishing uses a RuneScape-style XP curve from level 1 to 99.
- Higher levels unlock better gear (rods/reels/lines have a
lvlRequiredfield). - Better gear extends cast range, increases line strength and improves reel efficiency.
- XP is earned per catch, scaled by species rarity and weight.
The full level curve, base XP and modifier are tunable from the configurator's Basic β Skills tab.
#Permits
Permits gate fishing in different ways:
- Global permit β a base licence required to fish anywhere.
- Zone permits β required to fish in specific zones.
- Per-fish permits β required to legally land specific species.
Players buy permits at any equipment store. The card has a configurable expiry, art on both sides and is inspectable in-hand.

The rear of the card β cops with the right job/rank can revoke permits face-to-face.
Cops with the configured job and rank can revoke permits directly from the back of an inspected card. The owner sees their card without the revoke button β only nearby authorised players see the option.
